If it’s still Friday where I’m at, it still counts as a Papercraft Friday post, right?? This one comes in just under the wire. Did you build the excellent Super Smash Bros Brawl Mario from Papercraft Friday #79, but feel he was still missing something? TouchFuzzyGetDizzy over at DeviantART, with the help of designer Ignatius, has done it again with a 3D model of Mario’s ever loyal brother Luigi. He even got a Daily Deviation for it over there! Grats! As with Mario, there are no instructions and this model is not for the beginner, but for those who successfully tackled the Mario, this SSBB Luigi model will look great beside it.

Paperkraft.net posted a model this week of one of the most detailed paper Mario models I’ve seen, created by Ignatius. He’s modeled in his classic pose from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Definitely not for the beginner papercraft modeler, but it appears to be well worth the effort for the experienced modeler and game enthusiast. Awesome!

I hadn’t planned on doing another Mario or Princess papercraft this week after Princess Peach last week, but Icthus7 Papercraft released Princess Daisy last Sunday, and I thought it’d be a good match if you were going to build the Princess Peach model. So here’s Princess Daisy!
Back in the Nintendo papercraft mood again. I saw this Super Princess Peach model from the Nintendo DS game awhile back, and am finally getting around too it. It’s pretty detailed, and has 2 different poses and hairstyles to choose from. You can get it from Icthus7 Papercraft.
Paper automata are pretty cool, but quite often the subject matter doesn’t interest me enough to want to bother. If you are both a modeler and a gamer, though, this one’s a must.
It looks complicated, but it’s only a 2 page model, including instructions. I might have to make an extra one for the kids to destr… err, play with.
I’ve started and deleted this post several times, because I’ve been having a hard time collating my thoughts into a coherent post. I probably won’t succeed this time either. But I keep having this nagging jumble of thoughts that I need to get out. It’s gonna be a long ride. It’s about what I like to call The Nintendo Dilemma.
I am strangely fascinated by game music. I think it’s a very underrated music genre. People think of game music as the Mario theme or Zelda theme, but some game music over the last 10-15 years have been orchestral masterworks. I find many things that are peaceful to listen to in the background while working or just relaxing at home.
It’s sometimes difficult to track down official soundtracks, and they are usually not cheap. You can find some music for free (and legit) online if you pay attention though. For instance, you can still download the main theme from the new Tomb Raider Underworld game from Academy Award Winning composer Troels Folmann’s website. Have a listen:
You can also still get the Bioshock orchestral score from 2kGames website, as I first mentioned back in 2007. The (soon-to-be-remade ) The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay soundtrack is available at GameSpot (might require a free login).
If you’ve never thought about listening to game music outside of the actual game, give some of this free music a try. You might find that you have a passion for game music that extends beyond the controller.
It’s-a true! Head on over to http://mariowishlist.varitalk.com and you can have Mario call your friends or email them a voice message. Build your Wish List and let Mario personally deliver it to your loved ones.
You can customize it with names and wacky relationships (hero, love bunny, princess), pick the Nintendo DS you “want” for the holiday you are celebrating, and pick up to 3 DS games you “want” as well. Mario then calls or emails the recipient with a personalized Mario message! Have-a fun!
Rough week, not able to post. But Papercraft Friday cannot be denied! This Friday’s project relates to everyone’s favorite Italian plumber / Nintendo mascot. Make a wearable Mario cap! Yes, it’s big enough to wear, at least on a small head or kid’s head. Included are detailed photo instructions and models with and without fold line indicators. Download it now and start building so you can save that princess! (Just make sure you pick the right castle.)
